HC refuses to order Sonam Wangchuk's discharge, says Govt intervention 'not arbitrary'
Trinamool Congress national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee has called for a virtual meeting on August 8 at 4 PM to discuss issues related to alleged violence and harassment faced by Bengali-speaking people in BJP-ruled states. The meeting will also focus on strategies concerning SIR (Special Investigation Reports). A confidential circular issued by the party has listed attendance as mandatory for a wide range of organisational leaders and elected representatives.
The circular mandates the presence of all Trinamool MPs, MLAs, mayors, deputy mayors, municipal chairmen and vice-chairmen, zilla parishad members, panchayat samiti chairpersons, and all councillors of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation. Additionally, all members of the party’s state committee, district unit chairpersons and presidents of the mother party, block-level presidents, and state heads of all affiliated organisations have been asked to join the meeting.
The party has also instructed district presidents and chairpersons of all affiliated branches—except those of primary and secondary teachers’ associations—to attend the session. The agenda includes discussions on addressing incidents involving Bengali-speaking populations outside West Bengal and preparing an internal response plan at the organisational level.
